A couple weeks ago I got to help out Jessica, from Jessica Guthrie Photography, with a really fun project. We will both be leaving Japan within the next year and will be transitioning from primarily Portrait and Family Photography into Bridal Photography. Because there aren't too many (if any) opportunities to help out with Bridal photo shoots here in Iwakuni, I jumped at the chance to do makeup for NINE women so we can both update our portfolios with more current work.
Although, they aren't actual weddings, the chaos and excitement of getting 9 women ready for this shoot of ten weddings was the same that I have experience getting a bridal party ready. I can't wait to share the photos, but for now here is a sneak peek from that day.

I got to help out the super talented Nizar, from Nizar Wogan Photography, on another stylized bridal shoot a few days ago. The location was at the Kintai Castle. The Kintai Castle is set up on a hill over looking Iwakuni. It is a beautiful backdrop for photos, however the weather was just as bad as our last stylized shoot.. CRAZY HOT AND HUMID! This time it was in late afternoon. Our model was the ever so stunning Misty. I mean c'mon, look at her.. so gorgeous! One thing a lot of people don't consider when they do their makeup is how it will look in photos. It is all dependent on the time of day, the weather, the location, and the photographers editing style. What you might think looks supre dramatic in person, may not even show up on film. For his look I wanted to go with a very natural, almost bare face effect, with lots of lashes and a bold lip. You can see the difference the lighting makes in the photos. She looks gorgeous in her photos, but rather than a brighter red, her lips seem more like a peachier nude. Here are a few of my favorite shots from this shoot: Scared of color for your big day? I say go for it! I wore one of the brightest pinks I could find on my wedding day, and in the photos it was more of a subtle pop of color. Don't be frightened away from bold and bright. As long as it is a complimentary color to your skin tone you can't go wrong. Photographer: Nizar Wogan Photography
Makeup: Catrina Tengan I love spring time here in Japan. Living near the Kintai-kyo bridge, we get to experience the beautiful cherry blossoms that bloom. This year the weather was a bit temperamental and it was hit or miss when visiting the blooms. Luckily we got a few good days to visit and view the flowers. Here are some of the beautiful photos my clients took at Kintai-kyo bridge during cherry blossoms this year. They are all done by some of my favorite photographers. We are lucky to have so many talented ones stationed here in Iwakuni. All of the ladies in the photos makeup was done by myself. Some of the Amazing photographers links from above:
