A couple weeks ago I got to help out Jessica, from Jessica Guthrie Photography, with a really fun project. We will both be leaving Japan within the next year and will be transitioning from primarily Portrait and Family Photography into Bridal Photography. Because there aren't too many (if any) opportunities to help out with Bridal photo shoots here in Iwakuni, I jumped at the chance to do makeup for NINE women so we can both update our portfolios with more current work.
Although, they aren't actual weddings, the chaos and excitement of getting 9 women ready for this shoot of ten weddings was the same that I have experience getting a bridal party ready. I can't wait to share the photos, but for now here is a sneak peek from that day.

I got to help out the super talented Nizar, from Nizar Wogan Photography, on another stylized bridal shoot a few days ago. The location was at the Kintai Castle. The Kintai Castle is set up on a hill over looking Iwakuni. It is a beautiful backdrop for photos, however the weather was just as bad as our last stylized shoot.. CRAZY HOT AND HUMID! This time it was in late afternoon. Our model was the ever so stunning Misty. I mean c'mon, look at her.. so gorgeous! One thing a lot of people don't consider when they do their makeup is how it will look in photos. It is all dependent on the time of day, the weather, the location, and the photographers editing style. What you might think looks supre dramatic in person, may not even show up on film. For his look I wanted to go with a very natural, almost bare face effect, with lots of lashes and a bold lip. You can see the difference the lighting makes in the photos. She looks gorgeous in her photos, but rather than a brighter red, her lips seem more like a peachier nude. Here are a few of my favorite shots from this shoot: Scared of color for your big day? I say go for it! I wore one of the brightest pinks I could find on my wedding day, and in the photos it was more of a subtle pop of color. Don't be frightened away from bold and bright. As long as it is a complimentary color to your skin tone you can't go wrong. Photographer: Nizar Wogan Photography
Makeup: Catrina Tengan A few years back before I had my website I kept my portfolio pictures on my laptop. My younger brother borrowed it and tried to download a movie from who knows from what kind of creepy site... Needless to say a virus wiped out my computer and my laptop. I have been slowly rebuilding my portfolio with pictures of the beautiful women I get to help here in Iwakuni, Japan. Unfortunately, I do not get the chance to do make up for many weddings, because most people that get stationed here are single or already married. Recently, I have partnered up with a fantastic photographer Nizar, from Nizar Wogan Photography, to do some stylized bridal shoots. Our first was in a local park with our beautiful model, Tiffany and three of the cutest flower girls- her daughters! Her husband is one lucky man to have such gorgeous girls in his life! It was extremely hot and humid this day, we are talking like 100% humidity! These girls were total champs. Although, once Nizar got the shots she needed everyone was more than happy to get back in the car into the air conditioning! Here are a few of our favorite shots from the shoot. How sweet are those faces?! Photographer: Nizar Wogan Photography
